Illumination of the pessimist
A few weeks ago while helping a patient try to get up from her wheelchair I thought "Wow, Life is precious and I am lucky."
The patient is a 42 year old female whose husband left her after they discovered she had a fatal immune disease. She should be a vibrant young woman with a lot of her life left in front of her but instead she cannot even feed herself. She lives in a nursing home and has no visitors. Her only form of outside contact is her visits to a doctor's office. Reflecting on my life which i had always undervalued; I realized that life is so precious and short.
We need to treasure every moment whether it is just sitting on the couch with your loved one(s),
a family event, or having an amazing time vacationing...
